New Updates of Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program in the Year 2020

Saskatchewan has come up with many changes in the year 2020, where the some of the occupations In-Demand list are added and some are removed, giving more hope for the skilled migrants who are looking forward to applying for migrating province of Saskatchewan. The occupation demand list of Saskatchewan is listed with the number of occupations that are required to be filled by skilled migrants. There are two streams for selection of the applicants under Saskatchewan that are Saskatchewan Express Entry and Occupation in-demand streams. Both the stream accepts applications from candidates who have relevant work experience of at least 1 year in a skilled NOC.

International Skilled worker category of SINP

This provincial nominee program is for the overseas skilled or the international foreign workers who meet the required level of skilled work experience to apply for SINP. The two sub-streams including Saskatchewan Express Entry and occupation in demand stream aims at attracting highly skilled applicants who meet the labor requirements of the province. What is the good part about the Saskatchewan provincial nomination program is that this province requires a relatively low level of language proficiency and does not require a previous connection to the province. As the requirements are not very high, the overseas skilled workers have good chances to get an invitation from the Saskatchewan provincial nomination.

In order to be eligible to apply for both the streams, the applicants need to first submit the EOI (Expression of Interest) to the province of Saskatchewan. To meet the eligibility criteria applicants need to score at least 60 points as per the points eligibility criteria set by Saskatchewan and to enter the SINP international skilled worker EOI system pool. The applicant’s profile is ranked according to the scores the highest-ranked candidates are invited on the priority bases to apply for the Saskatchewan nominee program. The EOI application is valid for 1 year from the date of submission of the application form and one single EOI is submitted one time by an individual. The invitation to apply is issued by the SINP during the time of draws which are held once in a month.

The Express Entry candidates who are able to obtain the provincial nomination will be granted with 600 additional comprehensive ranking score (CRS) points which will positively clear their way of getting an invitation to apply for Canada permanent residency visa. Candidates who applied through occupation in-demand subcategory stream can apply for permanent residency outside of Express entry but the process of getting ITA is slower in comparison.

The expansion of the SINP In-demand Occupation List has effectively made a wide spectrum of high-skilled occupations–managerial, professional, technical and skilled trades eligible under the ISW streams. In the IT sector, the following occupations are now eligible:

Eligible to Apply for SINP

SINP occupation demand list

Both the Express Entry sub-category and occupation in demand subcategory requires the applicants to have relative work experience of at least one year in the nominated high skilled occupation apart from meeting the other eligibility requirements. A high skilled occupation is classified under skill level A or B or Skill type O under Canadas National Occupational Classification (NOC).

The occupation demand list of the SINP keeps on updating, if the occupation is listed while filing the application it might be removed at the time of submission of EOI. The applicants whose occupation falls in the drop-down list at the time of submission of EOI are only eligible to apply for SINP.

The two factors which make the applicant profile stronger while applying for SINP are the applicant’s EOI score and the occupation in demand. Last year Saskatchewan conducted many draws where the province has target the candidates with specific work experience.
