The cut-off score of 768 points is because of the mandatory 600 points which each candidate gets automatically upon nomination tied to their Express Entry Profile.
If one looks into the details, the minimum base CRS score for the candidates before nomination is 168 points in order to achieve this cut-off point. But normally, most of the provincial nominees already have very high base CRS points before getting any nominations.
According to the tie breaking rule applicable on May 15, 2026, those candidates with a score of exactly 768 points were invited only if they had submitted their profiles before this date and time. The candidates having a score more than 768 points were invited irrespective of the time of their submission into the pool.

The 768 cut-off point is one of the higher points in this year’s range that has varied from 708 (July 6) to 805 (May 25). Such variations are determined by the number of provincial nominations received at the time: the larger the number of nominations, the lower the cut-off score will be.
