A New Express Entry Draw of July 2026 Issued 2,000 PR Invitations

The latest news from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada is that the government has launched a new Express Entry draw July 2026 for domestic applicants. Today’s Express Entry draw has been made specifically for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) stream. Invitations for 2,000 permanent residence applications were issued to eligible applicants in the latest Express Entry draw. As the draw size has been smaller than before, there was an increase in the minimum CRS score required to qualify.

Highlights of Draw

  • Draw Date – July 7, 2026
  • Draw Type – Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
  • Total Invitations Issued – 2,000
  • Minimum CRS Score Required – 517

Reasons Why the CRS Cut-off Increased to 517

The cut-off score for CRS in this particular CEC draw is 517 which is exactly one point more than 516, the cut-off score in last CEC draw. However this rise in the cut-off score does not indicate increased competition among CEC candidates.

The single factor that led to the one point increase in the cut-off score is a reduction in the number of PR invitations from 4,000 to 2,000. The fewer the invitations issued by IRCC, the deeper the selection goes into the ranking of candidates. In this particular case, only those who were ranked among first 2,000 were sent Invitations to Apply (ITAs) as opposed to 4,000 in the last draw.

With fewer invitations being issued, there is an automatic increase in the minimum score since the cut-off point becomes much higher in the ranking. With a higher number of invitations remaining at 4,000, the cut-off score would not have changed.

Comparison CEC Draw At a Glance

The following table highlights the way in which the drop in number of invitations directly led to an increase of one point in the CRS cut-off.

Metric Previous CEC Draw July 7, 2026 CEC Draw
Invitations Issued 4,000 2,000
CRS Cutoff Score 516 517
CRS Change +1 point
ITA Change −2,000 (50% reduction)

From the above data, it is clear that the CRS move is solely determined by the number of invitations issued.

Target Candidates for the Canadian Experience Class

The Canadian Experience Class is one of three federal immigration streams in the Express Entry framework. CEC targets those applicants who have a minimum of one year of skill work experience in Canada.

As opposed to the Federal Skilled Worker program, CEC does not have a points grid evaluation which includes education, age, and arranged employment. The eligible candidates have to be employed in NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupations during the three years prior to submitting an application.

Selection rounds conducted by CEC will always result in the lowest CRS score since they do not need to compete with other streams. This stream remains one of the easiest ways for immigrants that have already resided and worked in Canada.

International graduates who have gained Canadian work experience after completing their studies become the main beneficiaries of these rounds.

Express Entry Draws to Come Up in July 2026

CEC draw number two is expected to occur as the next draw in a series of July draws by IRCC. IRCC issued 534 Provincial Nominee Program invitations on July 6th and continued with 2,000 CEC invites on July 7th.

French language proficiency-based draw is expected to happen soon after tomorrow or towards end of this week. IRCC has been giving priority to French language draws in 2026 as part of its focus on Francophone immigration in Canada other than Quebec.

An occupation-based draw involving priority TEER occupation categories such as healthcare, trades or STEM may complete this July draw series. In previous draw series in 2026, there were three to five draws per cluster within a period of seven to ten days.

Below is an outline of expected pattern of draw series for July 2026 as per past trend in draw series of IRCC.

Draw Expected Timing Status
Provincial Nominee Program July 6, 2026 Completed (534 ITAs)
Canadian Experience Class July 7, 2026 Completed (2,000 ITAs)
French Language Proficiency July 8–9, 2026 Anticipated
Occupation-Based (TEER) Later this week Possible

Applicants qualified for French and occupation-based draws must keep their profiles updated with recent test scores and work experience.

Steps that Candidates Should Take at This Point

CEC applicants whose scores were 517 or more and who submitted their Express Entry profiles prior to December 29, 2025 should look out for ITA invites.

Those applicants who barely failed this process could think about enhancing their CRS scores by taking further tests or education assessments. Getting a nomination from a province is the most effective step for adding 600 points to the CRS score.

If you have a good score in the French language test, then you should be ready for the coming category draw scheduled for this week.
