Many foreign nationals have this query whether visitors inside Canada can apply for a work permit or not. So, yes international individuals who are visiting Canada on a tourist or visitor visa can apply for a work permit until 28 February 2025.
A temporary public policy announced in 2020 was extended on 28 February 2023 by former Immigration Minister Sean Fraser.
Individuals who have visitor visas or are currently within Canada must fulfill the requirements to support the work visa application. It includes support of the Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) and a valid job offer by the Canadian employer.
