On 10 October 2023 Marc Miller, Canada’s Minister of Immigration, revealed a new PR route for people from Venezuela, Haiti, and Colombia.
Beginning in the fall of 2023, this new pathway for humanitarian permanent residency will accept up to 11,000 residents of Colombia, Haiti, and Venezuela who now reside in Central/South America or the Caribbean.
- The primary applicant must be single not married, child, grandchild, spouse, common-law partner, parent, grandparent, or sibling of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident to be eligible.
This is a part of Canada’s pledge to accept 15,000 migrants from the Western Hemisphere as refugees during Joe Biden’s visit to Canada in March 2023.
