On September 17, 2025, the fifth Express Entry draw of September 2025 saw 2,500 candidates invited under the Education Occupations category.

This, being only the second draw for the Education Occupations category ever, further emphasizes the increasing demand for education professionals in Canada.

This draw consisted of additional ITAs and a lower CRS cut-off than the first Education Occupations draw held on May 1, 2025, wherein 1,000 ITAs were issued with a CRS cut-off of 479.

Education Occupations draw fills labour market shortages in Canada by inviting skilled professionals in the following NOCs –

● Early Childhood Educators and Assistants

● Elementary School and Kindergarten Teachers

● Secondary School Teachers

● Instructors of Persons with Disabilities

● Elementary and Secondary School Teacher Assistants

Significance of This Draw

This Education draw signals Canada’s major focus on category-based immigration. Profession-based codes under priority in 2025 were healthcare, STEM, trades, transport, agriculture, French proficiency and now education.

However, the CRS cutoff became much lower when compared to the May 2025 Education draw, thus extending more expansive access to medium-class candidates (CRS ranging between 460 and 470) for teachers and early childhood educators.

● Being a teacher or having one of the allowed NOCs, this is the time for you to enter the pool under Express Entry.

● Candidates in the pool and having CRS above 460 would have remained in strong positions in the coming Education draws.

● The others should start preparing for the upcoming French, PNP, or General draws as IRCC continues moving between categories.
