The IRCC approved four new English proficiency tests for the Canada SDS (Student Direct Stream) study visa on August 10, 2023, however, they did not update the GC Key.
The IRCC has now distributed details on how to apply for updated English examinations.
According to IRCC, Newly authorized language exams do not present as an option for applicants to select in the GC Key, who claims that this is due to a system error. The Canadian immigration department is attempting to fix the problem; we expect that it will be resolved as soon as possible.
Nonetheless, IRCC provided applicants seeking Study visas with a short-term solution.
- Even if you have CAEL, PTE, CELPIP, or TOEFL results, choose “Yes – IELTS” when asked if you’ve taken a language test in the last two years.
- Choose “Yes” when prompted if your test scores were 6.0 or better. Even if you score lower than 6 in one or two IELTS Academic Modules.
- Your valid test results, which might be from the CAEL, PTE, CELPIP, or TOEFL, should be uploaded along with your supporting documents in the area labeled “Proof of IELTS Results.”
Please keep in mind that the IRCC only accepts in-person linguistic tests for the SDS. Online exams are not recognized.
