According to the most recent IRCC official data as of August 10, 2023, Canada is on track to welcome a record number of new permanent residents, exceeding the annual objective set out in the immigration levels plan for 2023-2025.
In November 2022, the Canadian immigration agency set a target to welcome:
- 465,000 new permanent residents overall in 2023
- 485,000 new permanent residents in 2024
- An additional 500,000 permanent residents in 2025.
However, the total number of immigrants who entered Canada up until June was 263,180, which suggests that only 202,000 more immigrants are needed to reach the IRCC’s target of 2023.
