Canada Express Entry: Minimum CRS Score Dropped Below 500

The latest draw of Canada’s express entry experienced the minimum CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score set below 500 after a long time since December 2020.

On October 26, the most recent all-program express entry draw were held by the Canada. According to the CIC news, this time, 4, 750 invitations got issued to the candidates with a minimum CRS score of 496.

According to the reports, candidates from the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class, all were eligible to receive the ITA or invitations. Canada had resumed this all-program express entry draws since December 2020. The draw got resumed from 6 July 2022.

By dropping the CRS score, IRCC (Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada), can increase the number of invitation to apply (ITAs) for permanent residencies in Canada.

Until now, between January, and August 31, 28,000 new permanent residents got accepted through the Express Entry Program.

What is Express Entry?

Express Entry is a unique application management system that manages three immigration streams: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class. The candidates with a provincial nomination through any of the province and are in the Express Entry pool becomes eligible to for at least any of these streams.

The express entry system helps to process the skilled workers applications who wish to immigrate and work in Canada.

Express Entry operates on a point-based system called the comprehensive Ranking System to evaluate and rank the candidate’s profiles. The candidates with high scores becomes eligible to receive an ITA (invitation to apply) to apply for the permanent residency.

The CRS scores evaluates the candidates on factors like educational qualifications, work experience, age, language proficiency in English or French, spouse factors, and connections in Canada.

After the submission of the application, the candidate’s application gets reviewed by an IRCC officer, and they make the final decision of approval. After the completion of all these process, if the officer approves the application, the candidate has achieved the permanent residency.

Can the CRS score be improved?

Yes, the CRS score can be improved. There are multiple ways through which a candidate can improve their Comprehensive Ranking System score: again take the English proficiency exam for improvement- IELTS, advance your work experience, get a valid job offer from a Canadian employer, and achieve a provincial nomination.
