British Columbia Invites 302 applications for Canadian permanent residence

British Columbia has issued 302 invitations to apply for provincial nomination on August 18 for Canadian permanent residence. In this draw, invitations were issued to Skilled Workers and International Graduates in the Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration streams of the BC PNP program. Semi-skilled and entry level workers were also invited in Skills Immigration.

With a profile in Express Entry system, the BC PNP categories are still open. The pool of candidates is managed by the federal system for three of the major economic immigration programs in Canada – the Federal Skilled Trades Class, Federal Skilled Worker Class and Canadian Experience Class.

Semi-skilled and skilled workers who are in great demand in British Columbia can apply under the SI category. In this draw, the minimum score requirement is ranging from 76 to 98 for the five SI and EEBC categories covered. Here are the minimum score requirements for all categories –

  • SI – 76 (Semi-Skilled and Entry Level), 98 (International Graduate) and 96 (Skilled Worker)
  • EEBC – 98 (International Graduate) and 96 (Skilled Worker)

Candidates should register themselves both under SIRS and Express Entry System to get EEBC invitations. Express Entry is the application management program by the federal government. The points are given to Express Entry candidates on the basis of certain factors related to human capital like work experience, age, language proficiency in French or English, and education.

With a provincial nomination, Express Entry candidates can get 600 points extra for their CRS score. SIRS registration is the only requirement for skills immigration candidates. There are three draws held by the province of British Columbia so far in August, including August 11’s tech draw.

Candidates are scored on the basis of different factors like work experience, education and proficiency in language during the registration process. Every week, Tech draws are held. It addresses demands for workforce in the tech industry in 2017 in British Columbia and that requirement cannot be met internally. It is aimed to ensure access in the tech sector to the talents to keep growing. The candidates of Tech Pilot don’t have to fulfill the requirement of full-time, permanent job offer which is required in a lot of immigration categories.
